Ruby, our beloved Shih Tzu, was a name inspired by the renowned horse jockey, Ruby Walsh. However, her fame extended far beyond her namesake. Ruby’s unwavering love and attachment to a simple ring defined her character.

Her favorite pastime involved that very ring. When our grandchildren paid a visit, they’d toss it, and Ruby would bound after it with infectious joy. The sparkle in her eyes and the sheer delight in her chase brought smiles to our faces. Yet, Ruby was no ordinary dog. When her energy waned, she’d cleverly stash the ring away, out of the children’s reach, ensuring moments of peace before the next game.

While Ruby treasured a few special places, the beach held a unique allure. The sea breeze, the sand beneath her paws, and the vast horizon seemed to invigorate her spirit. Watching Ruby race along the shore was a sight of pure happiness, a cherished memory for our family.

Her taste in treats was equally unique – toothbrush-shaped snacks designed for dogs. Her enthusiasm for these quirky snacks was evident in her wagging tail and the way she savored each bite.

Ruby wasn’t just a pet; she was our first family dog. Her presence brought warmth, laughter, and endless affection into our home. She was kind, gentle, and adored by everyone who met her.

However, life took a sorrowful turn. At just seven years old, Ruby’s time with us was tragically cut short. On our way to the dog hospital during a lockdown, Ruby, in the back of our car, passed away. As I tenderly stroked her fur, she gave a soft sigh, releasing her pain.

Ruby left a void that couldn’t be filled. Her memory lives on as a testament to the profound bond between humans and their pets. Her love, loyalty, and the joy she brought us will forever be cherished.

Ruby, our faithful friend, proved that love transcends words, and her memory remains a symbol of the happiness a beloved pet can bring, even in the face of life’s challenges.
